Waldorf Practical Arts Program

Are you and artist? Do you want to become a Waldorf handwork or woodwork teacher? This program is for you! Are you already a handwork or woodwork teacher, and you want to learn WHY, HOW, and WHEN we teach these crafts in Waldorf schools and deepen in the child development phases and the underlying philosophy? This program is also for you.

A practical arts teacher brings the wonder of creative, hands-on learning to students, guiding them through fiber arts, woodworking, metalworking, and more. By transforming raw materials into functional, beautiful objects, children develop not just dexterity and craftsmanship, but also an appreciation for the rhythms of nature, collaboration, and the satisfaction of tangible work. This holistic approach to education—an integral facet of Waldorf pedagogy—nurtures self-confidence, creativity, and a deeper connection to the world around them.

Our Practical Arts Program

The Waldorf Practical Arts Training (WPAT) program consists of nine individual six-day long intensives (modules) spread out over three years. It is an AWSNA-accredited certification program designed for educators, crafts people, and anyone passionate about teaching fiber arts, woodworking, and more.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

1. Learn practical hands-on skills in fiber arts, woodworking, and metalworking.

2. Gain a deeper understanding of Waldorf education & anthroposophy.

3. Train online or in-person at the Waldorf School of Orange County.

WHEN IS ENROLLMENT? Flexible Enrollment – Start at any time! Modules do not have to be taken in order.

Note: Housing Available – Affordable shared Airbnbs near campus. Housing is available via Airbnb next to the campus and can be shared by participants for a reasonable cost or individually if you prefer.

COST: The cost depends on your choices and is listed on the registration page. Full time WISC students get 50% off.
